Attendance

Every day in school counts!

Missing time off school can lead to gaps in learning, as well as impacting on your child’s confidence and social relationships.

Attendance can be negatively impacted by routinely arriving late at school. Each day begins with reinforcing key learning and children arriving only ten minutes late regularly miss the opportunity to both consolidate their learning and grow in confidence.  Arriving just five minutes late each day adds up to 3 days of lost learning across the year.  Learning starts for children at 8:50am, when the school doors are closed.

We know that children do suffer from viruses and periods of ill-health that can mean that they need time at home to recover.  We also understand that sometimes medical appointments can only be taken during the school day.

We would like to reassure you that the staff team work very hard to help children who have been unwell to catch up on missed learning as a result of a day’s illness.  However, we would encourage you to send children into school whenever possible; we will always be in touch if we feel your child is not well enough to manage the day in school.

If you are aware of other factors that may be affecting your child’s attendance, then your child’s class teacher, or our Home School Key Worker (Judith Ledden), would be very happy to discuss any ways in which we can support you and your child.
